Bluetti AC500 B300S 7 Month Review used in the Off Grid Workshop
I have been using the Bluetti AC500 and B300S Combination now for over 6 months in my workshop. Using power tools and welders with the AC500 is a demanding task and the Bluetti unit has not let me down. In this video I discuss what I have found, good and not so good with this Bluetti package. I talk a little on how it may also suit your needs, or not.
If you can build your own system that great, this video is not for you. Rather, it's for people that want an off the shelf system, ready to go. :)
Check out my Initial review video where I show in more detail the functionality of the entire AC500 and B300S System.

Building my Shed Bar Room with a Faux Concrete look Wall- Forme Industrious
Переглядів 21 тис.Місяць тому
It's been over two years since we started building on our rural acreage. First we built the big shed/ workshop and the our house. My Forme Industrious build have been well and truly put on hold with all the "other work" I have had to do (and still have to do). Time has come to get organised in the workshop. I need to properly set up the metalwork and wood work areas, and I also need a clean are...
Going off Grid Ep20 Dust, Slabbing Timber & Cyclones

What a contrast we have going from the Dry season to the Wet season. We went from it being so dry and having bush fire all around to wet and green in such a fast period. We have a Huge pile of heavy tree trunks from the clearing for the buildings and we really hope to use as much of the good timber as possible. It's a massive job and so I bought a Stihl 91cc Chainsaw to help slab the trunks. It...
DIY Off Grid Solar Power System overview and comparison Bluetti AC500 Review

First up: Bluetti gave me the AC500 and B300S for review. We don't need it, we already have a system, however we like the Bluetti systems and many people may benefit from sharing our experience and this review. Our DIY Off-Grid Power system powers our big shed and little shed home adequately. We have very modest power needs at the house and I do use the power for my workshop power tools. It pro...
Going Off Grid EP17 - We lost our Nala

This is a very hard post for us. Nala our beautiful Kelpie x passed away on Sunday 22 October 2022. She has been a massive part of our lives for the last 6 years since she was a puppy and a lot of you have watched her as we share our journey moving off grid. So young! How it happened is a hard to explain freak accident. She was chasing the ball, running flat out when she crashed and tumbled. So...
Going Off Grid EP 13 - Fire Side Chat Off Grid Life so far

Judy and I (Scott) sit by the fire and talk about our Off Grid experience so far. It's not for everyone, but we are really enjoying the journey so far. We get our electricity from our solar power system and our water from what we collect from our roofs into our rain water tanks. It's a lot of work but is the good sort of work. Thanks for watching! Going off the Grid Ep 9 - We have our Cabin Slab!

You learn patience when trying to build in the Tropics over the wet season. We have waited 5 months to get our Shed House (Cabin sized) foundation and slab work carried out. The land has a gradual slope on it and we decided to "cut and fill" rather than build up the land which would have been very expensive. Unfortunately when the cut and fill was done, it did not have enough of a gradient to a...

It would be possible with the right layout. You can experiment with paper cutouts (Patterns). The notches for me was trial and error. If they are square (all equal sides) the bag should be width/ height equidistant, or close to it.

Good, honest appraisal. Much appreciated Scott! There's no denying that these systems are far dearer than what the grid supplies, but Labor are doing their best to 'even it up'😉 Battery degradation is another factor people need to consider. Initial set-up and replacement costs make these systems absurdly expensive in comparison to the grid. There's no real solution to the low efficiency of batteries as yet, hence why EVs are such a joke, but if that ever changes... When will yo be posting another Forme Industrious creation? Looking forward to more of your creative thinking.👍👍👍

I've said in past videos that the whilst we are Off Grid in terms of Power, Water and Waste + others, The Grid is a modern wonder and it's fantastic. We have had cheap reliable energy for years and that has enabled a lot of benefit in our lives (all over the world). You are right; Off grid power systems are certainly dearer than using the grid, unless you can build your own systems and get the bits for a good price. Not many can do that. My biggest concern, especially with vehicles is mining for the elements needed. Same with solar. Ah.... it's a good topic to discuss....... From my perspective, I need power as we have no grid to connect to and there are a small percentage looking to do the same, either in the RV or in the bush cabins etc. These people are the target audience I guess. My workshop is slowly getting organised so my focus is moving back to making stuff. Thanks for your feedback; much appreciated!

For us here in South Africa, power interruptions (loadshedding) have become a part of life. Anything from 4 - 12 hours per day of having no power. A small UPS can keep absolute essentials up, but something plug and play like this is handy to keep everything else up. Of course, converting power hungry appliances to gas needs to be considered. Backup power for us is a necessity, not a luxury. Of course loadshedding gives us an excuse to braai (you call it barbecue). In the run-up to the recent elections, the ruling party has been burning copious amounts of diesel to give the impression that loadshedding is over. Watch this space…

Cheers Scott, thanks for the great review and your channel in general! You briefly show/mention welding with this unit. I'd been advised by Bluetti that this setup probably wouldn't run a welder. I know you said in the first review you did that you usually use your standard solar set up to weld with. Would you say this system was up for some not too heavy duty mig welding? If so it'd be perfect to supplement the small off grid solar system we have (on the other side of the Tablelands from you!) I'm very likely going to buy one anyway with the current special but it'd be great to know that I won't have to buy a 7 or 8kva genny to weld with!

    • @ScottTurnerformeindustrious
      @ScottTurnerformeindustrious 24 дні тому

Cheers Max! Welding is one of the most savage demands on any inverter system but my Victron setup and the Bluetti have consistently managed. I only weld light stuff (3 to 5mm) and probably only short runs so far but I've had no issue. My welder is about 6 years old and is not the heavy copper filled old types (WIA200i). Maybe that is important to note. If you use my code I think you'll get the discount; but I'm note really sure how these things work. All the best.
